HOTEL OCEAN DRIVE RENOVATION AND RE-OPENING NEWS
Hotel Ocean Drive has entirely renovated all of its 40 rooms, which can be booked now in the Deluxe Category and they’ve also made the addition of a stunning Roof Top Chill-Out Bar, with an unbeatable view of Dalt Vila, Ibiza’s old town and the Mediterranean Sea.
Enrique Mandl, Hotel Manager says, ‘The industry thought I was nuts when I bought the hotel and introduced this as a all year round hotel in Ibiza, with specially designed hotel rooms focusing on top beds and the bar and lobby designed with new Mies v. d. Rohe and Le Corbusier furniture.’ Marc Rahola, owner of the hotel adds, ‘The all year round opening plus serving breakfast all day long were the first of many innovations that gave the island a much needed wakeup call and helped this hotel to differentiate itself in a powerful way and being one of the top locations in Ibiza.’

ES VIVE 2010 OPENING NEWS
2010 looks set to be yet another storming year for Es vive - returning for yet another season of fun and Balearic bliss with the same attitude that has kept them top of their game for the last few years. With the rejuvenated menu of 2009 coming back again bigger and better, and worldwide promoters returning to host some of the funkiest parties on the island, they just can't wait for the summer to start! Ibiza’s winter parties heat up
A slew of new venues and parties have taken the island by storm this winter, meaning there’s no such thing as staying in! There’s the uber-cool fashion set at Café del Soto every Friday, an after dinner dance-athon at Ocho on Saturdays keeping the northern crew on their toes, the all-new Dakota in Figueretes bringing the best in underground sounds form the likes of Jose De Divina, plus Playa Den Bossa favourite Martina, where you must be sure to check out the monthly Rock Nights extravaganza.
Mid-week, it’s all about LaNu at La Cava, the new tapas and cocktail bar on Vara De Rey in Ibiza town (owned by the Anadon family of Café Mambo fame) where you’ll spot Pacha DJs Sarah Main and Andy Baxter spinning their own version of cosmic disoc each week. Of course, Pacha remains open on the weekends, with monthly parties like High Voltage and Pachatronica attracting the troupes in droves! Other names worth dropping – Grial, Sushipoint, Keepers, Monkey Bar and Ispirito just to name a few. All the more reason to plan your winter escape to Ibiza!

Ibiza’s almond blossoms in full bloom
If you’ve never experienced a trip to Ibiza in the winter months, there’s no better time than right now to check it out for yourself. The entire countryside is enveloped in a blanket of fluffy white looking flowers as the almond blossoms come into bloom. Whether you go for a wander around Santa Ines, where the blossom has literally taken over the hillside, join an organized full moon walk or just choose to cruise around the campo from the comfort of your car, it’s a spectacular view of Ibiza only afforded for a brief few weeks at this time of year. So what are you waiting for?

Cadenza 2010 – where’s Luciano?
In a typical case of island gossip raging out of control, all signs are pointing to that famous farmouse with the cherries on the top in Ibiza Town when it comes to Chilean DJ sensation and his Cadenza co-horts for the summer 2010 season, however the club remains tight-lipped for now. Local website Ibiza Voice reports rumours of the Cadenza parties to take place at Space, while locals are pondering the fate of the free Cadenza parties that took place in Playa Den Bossa at Ushuaia last summer. Only time will tell – however our top secret sources insist that the first rumour is true, and judging by Luciano’s guest speaker status at the upcoming IMS (founded by many a Pacha head honcho), we can only think that they just might be onto something…

‘And the beat goes on… Ibiza’ launches March 1, 2010
Our good friends at Ibiza Now magazine recently alerted us to the fact that the much-hyped movie ‘And the beat goes on… Ibiza’ made by Jimi Mistry and some very influential Ibiza friends will launched online on March 1, 2010. The film premiered at last year’s International Music Summit and has since featured at many international film festivals - featuring many local and famous faces, you’ll spot very special guest appearances by Icon’s very own Charlie Chester and Jo Mills. Whatever happened to El Divino?
There’s a lot of construction going on in downtown Marina Botafoch these days, in a flurry of drills, concrete and fresh paint being hastily put into place. Perhaps the biggest change worth pointing out in the area is that the giant El Divino signs have finally been taken down, well and truly signifying the end for the waterfront club. But Divino lovers, don’t despair! It’s been confirmed that the venue has been snapped up by the big boys from across the road, Pacha, who (our sources tell us) plan to introduce a restaurant and pre-clubbing bar with an all-new sound system. More news as and when it comes to hand – for now, the building remains yellow but we think it won’t be long before we see a new lick of paint and some cherries on the top!

2010 International Music Summit announced
How quickly a year goes past in Ibiza! The annual Ibiza International Music Summit recently announced its program for the 3rd instalment of the now hugely popular annual event. Scheduled to take place from May 26 – 28 inclusive, the event once again takes over the five-star Ibiza Gran hotel complex for the duration of the conference, meaning the who’s who of the music industry will converge on the Marina Botafoch area in a flummox of networking, socialising and – the main point of the event – changing the way the dance music industry does business.
Key speakers include Mark Ronson, Luciano, Erick Morillo, Annie Mac, David Guetta and many more, plus some of the most respected names in the industry. After last year’s hugely successful concert held in the UNESCO world heritage listed site of Dalt Vila, organisers have confirmed they will once again hold a Grand Finale event, however line-ups have yet to be announced. Kylie Minogue for Vogue in Ibiza
The very beautiful and down-to-earth Aussie songstress is currently appearing on the cover of Spanish Vogue, with an extended 8 sexy page photo-shoot alongside the feature inside the magazine. All of 41-year old Kylie’s stunning pics for the February issue were styled and shot here in Ibiza – a testament to what a fabulous location it is all year round.
Crew working on the magazine made the most of hip hotel Aguas De Ibiza in Santa Eulalia, meanwhile rumours are circling on the island that Kylie and her soon-to-be-yummy-mummy sister Dannii are in the market to buy a luxury villa in Ibiza, so don’t be surprised if you spot them strolling around town this summer.

Learn Spanish at JD’s Bistro
For those expats living in Ibiza all year round, and who still haven’t mastered the art of speaking Spanish, the winter is the perfect time to learn! Getting hippy with it – Folk Ibiza
Harking back to the hippy spirit of the good old days is a new festival scheduled to take place in Ibiza this year, from September 8th until the 15th. Launched by some very well known Ibiza faces and the same crew that are responsible for the Folk Café in Manchester, the festival itself goes back to Ibiza’s roots. ‘We are not interested in making money, we are only interested in creating a beautiful, spiritual experience for like minded people in a sun-kissed, laid back location - away from the madness - at the very source of the original Balearic vibe,’ say organisers.
